Little Jake Project

Team & Families,

On March 14, 2023, AMLG was notified of a special project for a little Canadian boy, Jacob Davis. At birth, he was very small and had calcified kidneys, a failing liver, delayed physical development, lethal levels of amino acids, severe reflux, an inability to maintain nutrients requiring constant feedings, sensory and unexplained irritabilities, vision sensitivities, and skin abnormalities (rashes, discoloration, blistering, & scaling). Doctors across North America could not diagnose him so his entire genetic coding was sent to Finland where it was determined that he had ERCC-1 Deficiency. At eight months old, Jake solidified his placement as the 100th case to be diagnosed in the world. As of now, he is one of nine active cases worldwide. In summary, this diagnoses means that his body is aging rapidly and he is a very fragile little being.

Now that the family has an official diagnoses, his skin conditions resulting from ERCC-1 can be nurtured. When exposed to any amount of sun, he obtains substantial sunburns. The family has gone to great lengths to protect him from UVA and UVB exposure including tinting their car windows, moving to an area with intense tree coverage so he may enjoy the outdoors, and they have boarded up all of the windows within their home to ensure he is not directly exposed to sunlight. The most significant burn that has occurred resulted in 3rd degree sunburns complete with swelling, blistering, peeling, and scarring twice in his short life following less than 10 minutes of sun exposure with SPF 60 or 70 applied.

Where do we come in? In an effort to help this family in need, Cardinal Glass Industries has partnered with the installation team and will be conducting the project at no cost to the Davis family. We will be utilizing LoE-366/ LoE-180/ 6.0mm clear Saflex-UV laminated which will block 99% of the UV A and B radiation. We will pull the AMLG and HRIG sales data as soon as the project is confirmed with the Canadian installers and we have field measurements for their home. We ask that you all put your best efforts forward to ensure the cleanest, highest quality product we can provide for Jake and his family. Say a little prayer, send positive vibes, and pack it full of love.

As a team, we have the ability to truly make an impact on little Jake’s life. Let’s give it our all!
